Okay so my sis and brother in love got us hooked on watching some documentaries about our lifestyles. Now pre-warning, I have been a health junkie since 9th grade. In high school I was probably border line of an eating disorder because calories consumed my thoughts hourly!! So I have been anti fad diets ever since in hopes to combat any and all part of me that would revert back to the old obsessive ways. 😄 Okay, back to the documentaries. The two main ones that have motivated this change of lifestyle were "Forks Over Knives" and "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". If you haven't seen them, Netflix has both! Watch them. Three times if necessary.
Watching these came at a really great time for me because my family has been learning more and more about NASH liver disease, which is currently affecting the quality of life of my mom. Something has to change to stop this disease and other silent killers from creeping up on innocent victims.
We have taken several ideas and adapted them to our realistic goals as well as our needs at this point in life. The juice cleanse is to jump start a new life. The rest can be added as you go. Baby steps!
Every person is different. Every lifestyle is different. But no matter your goal, living as current westerners live will not improve your health!

The idea is that we increase our intake of the "good things" and remove all of the "bad things" (processed foods) from our diets!
1.) Begin with 3-5 day juice cleanse to detox your body of all of the chemicals. (Pre & Post video and weigh in) [More blogs to follow on this with recipes, videos, etc.]
2.) If eating meat, 2-3 times a week max, in smaller portions. Always grass fed, non-hormonal. Only cage free eggs, in moderation
3.) No dairy. Soy milk, Almond milk and like products can be used. Vegan cheeses are okay.
4.) No white sugar. Sugar in the raw if baking but be extra careful of processing. Cane sugar is raw but if added coloring etc. No can do!
5.) Veggies should be consumed at every meal!!
6.) Vegan is a great foundation, but includes the processed sugars that we are taking out.
